Q: I can hear only one side of conversation on recording

A: Please make sure that both speakers are working. The recording is stereo, your voice from one speaker, the person you are talking with from another. Alternatively you can switch to mono mode in recorder by clicking Recording Settings and choosing Mono instead of Stereo.
If the above doesn't help, click Recording settings, click Advanced recording settings
Turn off  'Record from Skype API audio when available'
Turn off  'Detect microphone and speakers to record automatically' and choose manually mic and speakers you are using.  Don't forget Save
