Report an issue with MP3 Skype Recorder v 3.1

Posted on: Fri, 11/18/2011 - 00:22 By: VOIP

This is a topic to report any issues with MP3 Skype Recorder v.3.1

If you have any problem please post below. Please indicate your OS and Skype version.

 I was recording a skype GROUP call and for some reason when I click record and stop it doesn't record anything what is the problem?

- You can check if the recording is in progress by checking status bar (bottom) of recorder. There should be changing figures shown actual size of mp3 file, it should be changing/increasing during recording.
- Allow MP3 Skype recorder automatically start and stop recording. Just leave recording button pressed to make it automatically record all calls.

Getting a debug error on install. Using Skype 5.10.0.116. Program will not execute. Fresh install.
Running Windows 7 x64
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Configuration file is corrupted. Please delete the following file
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_bseom1xm3zk0xnc4bhdwumdycaacpllp\3.1.1.2\user.config
The program will create a new one.

  Good morning
I am currently encountering a problem using MP3 skyped recorder,
I can hear my voice in the recording but I coudn't hear the recoding of the one that I talked with
Please help me.

Check that both speakers are working on your PC. The recording is stereo your voice should be coming from one speaker ant the one's you talking to from another.
Alternatively you can use mono mode.

 My OS is Windows 7 an I have the latest version of Skype.
the recorder isn't responding when I use it.
what should I do?

 What is 'not responding'?
If it's not recording, then check the following:
Recording button is pressed for automatic recording.
Open Skype. Click Tools->Options->Advanced tab->Manage other programs' access to Skype(bottom of the window). Look for MP3SkypeRecorder.exe and check if to is marked as Allowed to use Skype. If not then click Change and OK to save changes.

 Hi, I was wondering if there was a setting of the following:
I have recorded conversations couple weeks / months ago.
When I go to a folder to look at the recording, it's gone.
Is there a setting where the program deletes mp3s of xxx days old?
Thank you

 I followed your tip but i still can't find the file.

C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_bseom1xm3zk0xnc4bhdwumdycaacpllp\3.1.1.2\user.config

Open Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer) and put path without file name to address/path bar. Like this:
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_bseom1xm3zk0xnc4bhdwumdycaacpllp\3.1.1.2\
Press Enter.
If you still unable to open that folder. Please try to reinstall recorder.

Failed to save settings: Unable to save config to file
3.1
Win7 64bit

What I tried to make it run:
1) deinstall and reinstall
2) Give all permissions to the file in question
The only way it's working is as administrator ...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Looks like some issue with permissions. Check permissions for C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_p3orsnkjgfys3smefp4wprt1ai3iq1jo\3.1.1.2 folder.

 Skype recoder has correct permissions and used to record skype call automatically.
Everything indicates it is ready to record just waititng  for Skype call, but does not launch.
Now, it is not working -- recording when I start a call.
Where should I look?
using Skype 5.10.0.116  OS=XP serv pack 3

I've tested the recorder with this version of Skype, should be working fine. What is status of recorder, bottom string? Is it "Connected to Skype; Recorder:ON"?
Check that no personal firewall or security software is blocking connection between Skype and Skype recorder. Check that destination folder exist and you have permission to create files in there. Just try to create text file in that folder.
Try full reinstallation of recorder - uninstall, restart, install back. Try reinstalling skype.

I have Skype Version 5.10.0.116   when I open the recorded file to play it, Media Player opens but will not play the recording. The message is that the format is not supported by Media Player

I'm using Windows 7 (64-bit) and skype 5.10.0.116.
Every time I start or end Outlook 2010, MP3 Skype Recorder (v3.1) crashes.
Any idea what's causing that?

Hi, there --
I really love your software and have used it for years. However the last two calls I've made -- calls around 30-45 minutes -- the recorder cut off about halfway through both times (at just after 15 minutes for one, around 17 minutes for the other). I have Windows 7, and the latest Skype and MP3 Skype Recorder. Nothing interrupted either call, and there was no indication that the recorder wasn't recording. Can you help?

Assuming that you've try to reinstall the recorder and using the latest version, check that nothing is blocking connection between Skype ans Skype recorder. Like personal firewalls etc, which is unlikely as there are some recordings done, but anyway check this.
Try to update/reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework. It is big framework and corruption of some files could lead to unexpected errors/behaviour. Upgrade to the latest version of Skype.
You can always check the recording progress if look on the bottom of recorder. There should red string showing current recording file size increasing during recording.

 Hey, I just have one quick question. I have the latest version of Skype and the MP3 Recorder. My friends and I record gaming footage for Youtube. While I'm talking, and if one of my friends talks at the same time (this happens even if there are only 1 other person in the call), it decides to cut out what I'm saying and keeps in what my friends say. Is there a way to fix this problem? Sorry if it's hard to understand my question, but it's hard to explain. It's as if my volume decreases dramaticly and my friends' volumes stay the same. It only happens if we talk simutaniously. I record with the Mono option with 64 bit rate. Thanks!

 Try switching to stereo mode. Each of your voices will be in separate channel. Stereo mode is better for sound editing as you can adjust levels for each voice separately. Anyway you can mix it to mono later and add to footage.

 When i use the recorder to record a call on skype the person i am talking to in the call cannot hear me while it is recording, but if i stop the recording and go back to listen to it in the .mp3 file i can hear myself and the other person on it fine,  I also have the same problem when i try to record myself talking to the echo test service (cant hear myself in the call when it says i should).  While if i dont use the recorder at all my microphone works fine and the other person can hear me.

I love this program -- thank you. There's one problem I've encountered, though, and it happened again today. I began recording a Skype call. Then I stopped the recording after 15 seconds and played it back just to make sure the levels were OK. Everything was great, so I started recording the call again. I clicked the Record button, and the message at the bottom of the recording read, "Recording: ON."  But when I was finished with the call 20 minutes later, only one file showed up in my destination folder: this file was the original 15-second test; the 20-minute call didn't record.  I've searched everywhere on my computer for this 20-minute call and I can't find it.  In the future, if I stop a recording in the middle of a call, do I need to close MP3 Skype Recorder and then re-open it if I want to start recording again?  Or is there something else I'm doing wrong?  I'm using Windows 7 and Skype 5.10.0.116.  Thanks--

My Skype recorder stopped working.  I am using Version 3.1 for the recorder and the version right before 6.0.0.120 was the version of Skype right before where my Recorder stopped working.  As I updated Skype, the recorder still is not working.

I am using Windows 7 home version for my OS.

I just noticed that 3 days ago was the last time that my recorder stopped working, if you need a time reference.

I've tested this Skype version with Windows 7, no problems were found. Please check that recorder is allowed to access Skype:
Start Skype and sign in with the account you are going to record.
Choose Tools from the upper menu and click Options.
In the new window click Advanced tab on the right and click "Manage other programs' access to Skype" (bottom)
Look for MP3Skype recorder.exe in the list (could be few) and check that it is marked "Allowed to use Skype".
If not allowed click Change button, select allow and save your settings.

I have been getting the following message after using this with mo isues before-See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I have tried to reapir my skype MP3 recorder but it says this-
System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Configuration system failed to initialize ---> System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Root element is missing. (C:\Users\Gill\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_rttyapoey00k3qd0mc3ntgkhl5tno54t\3.1.1.2\user.config) ---> System.Xml.XmlException: Root element is missing.
   at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e)

Configuration file is corrupted.
Just delete the following file C:\Users\Gill\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_rttyapoey00k3qd0mc3ntgkhl5tno54t\3.1.1.2\user.config.
The program will create a new healthy one on the next launch.

Hi there, I have uninstalled thsi programme multiple times, attempted to repair it and then re-installed. It says the root element is missing and it won't work. I cannot see what I'm doing wrong - as it says the configuration fails to initialize I am at a loss as to what else to do to make it work. Thak you for your help.

I have also downloaded a new version of skype,updated my windows. and tried re-installing thsi many times. KIt states that the root element is missing and faisl to initilaise. Thanks for advice.

 I have today downloaded and installed MP£ Skype recorder 3.1. It seems to work but after a while I get a message saying "MP3 Skype Recorder has encountered an issue and needs to close" Tried removing and re-installation 3 times but still the same.
Windows XP SP3 and all current updates

Here lately my Recorder has started initializing on Win Start up at the EXTREME lower portion of my screen almost hidden behind the task bar.  It used to orpn at the top left of my screen.  How do I get it to move back to that position??  Version 3.1 and the latest Skype 5.10.0.116 and Win7 Pro.

1. You can temporary hide task bar, to get it.
2. You can edit settings file, to change starting positing
 - close MP3 Skype recorder, right click on recorder icon in system tray and choose Exit
 - look for settings file. Path for Windows XP will look like
  C:\Documents and Settings\[your windows username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_rttyapoey00k3qd0mc3ntgkhl5tno54t\3.1.1.2
   for Windows 7
  C:\Users\[your windows username]\AppData\Local\Alexander_Nikiforov\MP3_Skype_Recorder.exe_Url_rttyapoey00k3qd0mc3ntgkhl5tno54t\3.1.1.2\user.config
 (random part rttyapoey00k3qd0mc3ntgkhl5tno54t can be different)
 - open this file with notepad
 - change the following values to zero
     <setting name="StartXYpos" serializeAs="String">
                <value>0, 0</value>
     </setting>
 - save file
 - start recorder

Hi,
Upon trying to run the program, I get the following msg.  I'm using XP.  I had it installed before, and it was working fine, but lately I started getting some kind of runtime error or something. So, I tried to uninstall and reinstall, and this is what I got.  Any ideas?  I really like your program and use it a lot for my work, too!
Rgds,
J
